Introduction to the Project for Students

Hello Everyone!

I’m excited to do our collaborative project with Mrs. Bewley and her students at Wilson Central High School in New York.  The Wilson Central School District is located in a rural area approximately 30 miles north of Buffalo, 25 miles northeast of Niagara Falls, and adjacent to the city of Lockport. The District encompasses an area of 144 square miles including Wilson and portions of Ransomville, Newfane, Cambria, Lockport and Porter.

Mrs. Bewley is a talented teacher working mostly with media arts at this time. Check out some of the work of her students here.

Mrs. Bewley created this website for her students to use in their participation in their work with us.

In order to collaborate, we will need to upload our mandalas on a shared workspace called Marqueed.  In order to use Marqueed you will have to join (it’s free!) and then you will need to join our collaborative space.

We will Skype together to introduce each other and the project.  Then you will each upload an image of your mandala to the Marqueed site.

You and Mrs. Bewley’s students will comment on the mandalas, in essence, giving positive feedback (friendly critique) and get to know each other by asking questions.

You can add your own touch by providing images of yourself, talk about things that are important to you, and about art and the creation of art—in particular—mandalas!

When you write about your mandalas talk about the importance of the symbols you chose, the colors you chose, and other meaningful elements that lend MEANING to your mandalas.  Yes, they are amazing and beautifully drawn and painted, but we want to know MORE! Tell us what is meaningful IN THEM for YOU.

More information to come!
