Online Collaborative Teaching and Learning Experience

 

Dear Parents and Students,

 

Your child/you, the student, are being asked to participate in a collaborative teaching and learning project between Mrs. Fuller, a University of Michigan-Flint Education Technology graduate program and high school visual arts instructor and Mrs. Bewley, visual arts instructor at Wilson Central High School.

 

The purpose of our project is to determine if and how learning using online collaboration tools enriches student learning.

 

As a participant you/your child will experience:

 

• meeting visual arts students in another high school—Ionia High School, Ionia, Michigan, US

• collaboratively working on a mandala assignment, each class using different media

• collaborating through the use of online tools including Skype, Google Docs, Drive, and email, and Marqueed

• collaborating through critiques

• collaborating through responses

• participate in simple pre-and post-assessment

 

Parts or all of this project including photographs will be published on a website for teachers and learners interested in using online tools for collaboration and to showcase the work of participating students.

 

Authorization:

I have read the above and understand the purpose and intent of this collaborative project.  I understand that by agreeing to participate I have not waived any legal or human right.  I may contact the researcher from the University of Michigan-Flint (Mrs. Fuller-616-901-4977 or dannaf@umflint.edu) at any time.  I understand that I may refuse to participate and can withdraw at any time without negative consequence.  I agree to allow participating teachers to collect and use artifacts and evidence for the purpose of gathering support evidence to improve teaching and learning.
